The AWA is scored (from 0 to 6) based on your ability to analyze the topic
and clearly communicate your analysis. It is important, therefore,
to address the information given in the question, as well as produce a
clearly written, organized essay. You should aim for a score of 5 or better,
but you'll want at least a 4 for a good solid GMAT score.
There are 2 types of questions - Analyze the Issue and Analyze the Argument,
and there have recently been some open-ended questions that vary from the
Issue/Argument question structure. In an Issue question, you are
expected to develop your own position. In an Argument question, you
are not to develop your own view, but to critique the argument presented.
Your writing is evaluated in the following areas: organization and
development of your ideas, support of your ideas and use of clear, standard
written English.
Students enrolled in Test Writing AWA will receive an orientation package
